Overpaid?

Athletes make a lot of money, nobody can deny that, but are they really overpaid? To me athletes earn every dime they make because they are able to sell themselves. They put in their time everyday to make themselves better for the fans entertainment. If people are going to spend loads of money on jerseys and tickets to the game then that's their own fault. The athletes are not stealing their money (well most of them are not) so why do they get blamed for making to much of it. Anyone who says they make to much money would take that paycheck in a heartbeat. Many people don't look at the entire picture either, they just think that the athletes have it made, they don't understand what it's like to be on the road all the time. They don't know that they hardly ever see their family or that every time an athlete goes out for something as simple as getting dinner with their wife the amount of people that ask for their autograph. Now don't get me wrong, all those problems are somewhat eased when they get that paycheck but money isn't everything. I guess what I'm trying to say is don't say an athlete doesn't do anything to earn those millions of dollars. Just remember that they had to put in a lot of time in their younger years to get to the point they are at right now.

I agree with you when you say that athletes earn every dime that they make. People don’t realize how hard of a job it really is to be a professional athlete. These players put in so many hours every week and work harder than a lot people out there. They spend a majority of their time in the weight room and training for game day. Their life revolves around the sport they play and following all of the rules and regulations of the league. First off, getting into the NFL is a huge accomplishment. Athletes have to work very hard at what they do to make it big. A very small percentage of athletes move on from college level sports to the professional world. Next, they spend so much time away from home and their families that they pretty much need an incentive to be away for that long of a time. Work starts at 7am and lasts all night long. The weekends are taken up by practices, traveling and games. With all of this there is really no time for a anything else they enjoy doing. Most people don’t realize how intense of a job sports really is. The chances of getting injured are high and these players are willing to take that chance. Most players even have to spend holidays away from their family. People need to think twice when they disagree about player’s salaries. These players are working hard for their money and doing something that they love to do. The more money they make, the more power to them.
